RSP weighs response as Congress, UML push to oust Deputy Speaker Rana
RSP leaders are currently holding informal consultations to assess the evolving situation and to develop a clear position and strategy in response to the two major parties’ actions.
KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun internal deliberations after Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML initiated moves to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana from her post.
According to party sources, RSP leaders are currently holding informal consultations to assess the evolving situation and to develop a clear position and strategy in response to the two major parties’ actions.
RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar cautioned the larger parties against misusing their numerical strength in parliament.
“If Congress and UML engage in unconstitutional or undemocratic practices under the pretext of numbers, there will be resistance,” Pariyar said. “Such practices ultimately weaken democracy.”
He added that the latest activities of Congress and UML have raised both concern and curiosity within the RSP. “We are in internal discussions on how to proceed, and the party will announce its official position after further consultations,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Congress and UML have already started collecting signatures to push forward Rana’s removal.
