RSP to end bribe demands for new industries: Balen
Addressing a party program in Itahari, Sah said RSP aims to create an industry-friendly environment in the country.
KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balendra Sah, has vowed to end the practice of politicians demanding bribes and “donations” from new industries.
Addressing a party program in Itahari, Sah said RSP aims to create an industry-friendly environment in the country.
He highlighted that the eastern region was home to Nepal’s first industrial establishments, but new industries have struggled to emerge due to political and administrative hurdles.
Sah explained that opening a factory currently requires appeasing multiple politicians and officials, and even after starting operations, factories often face demands for continuous payments. He claimed his party would put an end to this “donation terror.”
He emphasized making the eastern region production-oriented. Sah stated that full-scale paddy cultivation in four districts of eastern Terai could ensure nationwide food security
He also proposed transporting agricultural produce from the eastern hills to the Terai.
Sah further announced plans to develop eastern religious and cultural sites—such as Mukulung and Khwalong—into national centers of faith.
He pledged improvements in irrigation, drinking water, and overall infrastructure, claiming that Udayapur could be developed on par with destinations like Indonesia and the Maldives.
