KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives witnessed continued obstruction from opposition parties Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Thursday, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a high-level investigation commission over alleged human trafficking under the guise of visit visas.

Speaking in Parliament, RSP lawmaker Hari Dhakal said their protest against human traffickers would continue, accusing the government of turning a blind eye to the plight of thousands of defrauded Nepalis.

“While we are protesting over the exploitation of countless Nepalis, the government chooses to ignore us,” said Dhakal. “Instead of addressing the allegations, the Home Minister mocked the voices of the people in Parliament.”

Dhakal also questioned the government’s decision to remove the Human Trafficking Bureau from Tribhuvan International Airport, implying a cover-up or negligence in tackling the issue.

Despite strong objections from the opposition, Speaker Devraj Ghimire proceeded with the day’s parliamentary agenda.
