KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire has lauded Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for his impeccable track record and clean image, emphasizing his commitment to transparent governance.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Ghimire highlighted Minister Lekhak’s untarnished character through multiple ministerial tenures.

He expressed confidence that Lekhak would work sincerely and wholeheartedly within the high-level investigation committee formed to probe the recent visit visa controversy.

Ghimire urged opposition parties, including the National Independent Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party – RSP) and National Democratic Party (Rastriya Prajatantra Party – RPP), who have boycotted Parliament, to trust the parliamentary process rather than undermine the government.

He appealed to them to support and respect the investigation committee, allowing it to function without suspicion, and to fulfill their responsibility in maintaining regular parliamentary proceedings.

“Honorable Home Minister Lekhak has built an extremely clean and credible history. He has served as a minister multiple times with an unblemished record.

There is ample reason to believe he will work with dedication from within this committee. To my opposition colleagues who have boycotted Parliament: how long can this continue? Parliamentary practice demands trust in the government and the Parliament itself. I request everyone to give this committee the necessary support and see the outcome impartially. It is also your responsibility to help keep the Parliament functional,” he said.

Ghimire further stressed the importance of the committee delivering effective results to uphold public trust and parliamentary integrity.
