KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to revise its proportional representation candidate list after facing widespread criticism and dissatisfaction.

Following mounting pressure both within and outside the party, RSP has decided to submit an updated list to the Election Commission today.

Party leader Ganesh Parajuli confirmed that the party would approach the commission to correct errors and update the names.

The controversy arose after several high-profile individuals included in the initial list publicly expressed their disagreement, putting the party leadership in a difficult position.

Among those requesting their names be withdrawn are Dr. Araniko Pandey, Dr. Ramji Ram, former Miss Nepal Sugurika KC (Trishala Gurung), Tasi Sherpa, and artist Aasif Sah.

Others, including Sachin Dhakal, Mahendra Lawati, Milan Limbu, Sirjana Oli, and Mohana Ansari, have also announced their desire to be removed from the list.

Meanwhile, RaswaPa is preparing to remove candidates recommended by the Ujyalo Nepal Party, led by Kulman Ghising, after the alliance between the two parties collapsed. Ujyalo Nepal had announced the termination of its agreement with RaswaPa just yesterday.

Today, the party is expected to submit the revised list to the Election Commission, removing names of dissatisfied candidates and those linked to Ujyalo Nepal.
