RSP MP demands Home Minister’s resignation over visa scam
The RSP has been staging symbolic protests in Parliament, calling for Minister Lekhak’s resignation and a thorough investigation into the visa scandal.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Asim Shah strongly criticized Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak during Sunday’s session of the House of Representatives, accusing him of remaining silent amid the rising scandal over the misuse of visit visas.
Shah compared Minister Lekhak to a “cowardly leader who silently watched a caravan being looted,” saying history would remember him that way if he continued to remain passive. He alleged that instead of investigating the ongoing visit visa scandal, the government was acting as a mere spectator.
“The Home Minister himself once said that if questions are raised against a minister, they should resign on moral grounds. Now, questions are being raised against him. This is the time to act with integrity, not just give moral lectures,” Shah asserted.
The RSP MP demanded the formation of a high-level judicial commission to ensure justice for Nepali citizens who were exploited under the guise of visit visas. He also stressed that all individuals involved in human trafficking through this scheme must be prosecuted according to the law.
