KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has demanded the resignation of Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, RSP lawmaker Manish Jha called for Khatiwada’s resignation, holding him morally and politically accountable for alleged manipulation regarding the “cooling-off period” provision in the Federal Civil Service Bill.

Jha stated that the committee, under Khatiwada’s leadership, submitted a report implicating irregularities in the handling of the bill, raising serious ethical concerns. “When such issues were reported in the press, we were asked ethical questions — now the same applies to the committee chair. Who will answer for this irresponsibility?” Jha questioned during the session.

He further criticized the recent appointment to the Language Commission, claiming the individual appointed was not endorsed by the Council of Ministers, drawing the government’s attention to the irregularity.
