Chasing a daunting target of 211, Gujarat fell just short at 204/8 in their 20 overs despite a valiant effort.
KATHMANDU: Rajasthan Royals held their nerve to secure a thrilling 6-run victory over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League on Saturday night in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a daunting target of 211, Gujarat fell just short at 204/8 in their 20 overs despite a valiant effort.
Sai Sudharsan led the charge with a composed 73, keeping his side in contention before a late collapse derailed the chase.
Earlier, Rajasthan posted a strong 210/6 after being put in to bat. Dhruv Jurel starred with a brilliant 75 off 42 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal added a fluent 55.
Contributions from Vaibhav Suryavanshi (31) and Shimron Hetmyer (18) further boosted the total.
For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets and later played a crucial cameo with the bat alongside Rashid Khan, bringing the Titans close to an unlikely win.
However, Rajasthan’s bowlers held their composure in the final moments. Ravi Bishnoi delivered a match-winning spell, claiming four wickets to dismantle Gujarat’s middle order.
With 30 runs needed off the last three overs, Rabada’s late surge reignited hopes, but disciplined bowling from Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande in the death overs sealed the game.
Deshpande successfully defended 10 runs in the final over to clinch a crucial win.
The victory marks Rajasthan’s second consecutive triumph, while Gujarat suffered their second straight defeat in the tournament.
