Rimal defeated in both Vice General Secretary & Central Committee races

KATHMANDU: Bishnu Rimal, a close aide and trusted confidant of CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, has suffered defeats in both the vice general secretary and central committee races at the party’s 11th National General Convention.

Rimal contested the post of vice general secretary but failed to secure victory.

Following that loss, he was also defeated in the election for central committee membership.

A long-time member of Oli’s team, Rimal has played a key role in the party’s publicity and communications wing

He has also served as an advisor during Oli-led governments and is widely regarded as one of Oli’s closest allies within the party.

While KP Sharma Oli was re-elected chair by a large margin and most office-bearer positions were won by candidates from the Oli panel, the convention also saw unexpected defeats of a few leaders considered close to the party chair.
