KATHMANDU: Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 side Rajasthan Royals continued their strong start to the campaign with a convincing 27-run victory over Mumbai Indians in a rain-shortened encounter in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The match was reduced to 11 overs per side after a delayed start due to rain, with Mumbai opting to field first after winning the toss.
Rajasthan made full use of the shortened format, posting an imposing 150 for 3.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a blistering 77 off just 32 balls, striking 10 fours and four sixes.
He was well supported by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed 39 from 14 deliveries, including five sixes.
The pair added 80 runs for the opening wicket in just 4.6 overs, setting the platform for a formidable total, while captain Riyan Parag contributed a steady 20.
For Mumbai, Allah Ghazanfar was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets.
In response, Mumbai struggled to build momentum, losing three wickets inside the powerplay.
Despite efforts from Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir, who both scored 25, the chase never gained traction.
They were eventually restricted to 123 for 9 in their 11 overs, with Rajasthan’s bowlers maintaining control throughout.
Sandeep Sharma, Nandre Burger and Ravi Bishnoi claimed two wickets apiece.
The victory marks Rajasthan’s third successive win, lifting them to the top of the standings, while Mumbai slump to their second defeat in three matches.
