KATHMANDU: Punjab Kings produced a commanding run chase to defeat Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in a high-octane Indian Premier League clash in Chennai.

Set a daunting target of 210, Punjab reached 211 for five in just 18.4 overs, delivering one of the most clinical batting performances of the season. Their intent was clear from the outset, with aggressive stroke play putting the Chennai bowlers under immediate pressure.

Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front, bringing up a rapid half-century off 26 balls. He anchored the chase with composure, ensuring momentum was maintained during key phases of the innings.

Prabhsimran Singh provided a strong platform at the top, scoring 43 runs, while Priyansh Arya delivered a game-changing cameo — blasting 39 runs off just 11 balls — to dismantle the required run rate early in the innings.

Earlier, Chennai had posted an imposing 209 for five after being put in to bat. Young batter Ayush Mhatre impressed with a fluent 73 off 43 deliveries.

Shivam Dube added 45 runs, while Sarfaraz Khan provided late fireworks with a quick 32 off 12 balls.
