PSG cruise past Angers to tighten grip on Ligue 1 title race
Goals from Lee Kang-in, Senny Mayulu, and Lucas Beraldo sealed the win for Luis Enrique’s side, who dominated proceedings from the outset.
KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain strengthened their Ligue 1 title defense with a convincing 3-0 victory over Angers at Stade Raymond Kopa.
Goals from Lee Kang-in, Senny Mayulu, and Lucas Beraldo sealed the win for Luis Enrique’s side, who dominated proceedings from the outset.
PSG took an early lead in the 7th minute when Achraf Hakimi’s initial effort was saved by goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, but Lee Kang-in reacted quickly to convert the rebound.
Angers thought they had equalized in the 21st minute through Amin Saba, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Hakimi later came close again, hitting the post with a free kick.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 39th minute, with Beraldo setting up Senny Mayulu to make it 2-0. Beraldo then got on the scoresheet himself in the 52nd minute, guiding Lee’s cross into the net to put the result beyond doubt.
Late in the match, PSG were reduced to 10 men after Gonçalo Ramos was sent off for a reckless challenge on Koffi, receiving his second yellow card.
With this win, PSG move closer to securing the Ligue 1 title, sitting six points clear of second-placed RC Lens with four matches remaining and a superior goal difference. Angers, meanwhile, suffered their 18th consecutive defeat against PSG.
