Nineteen Gen Z protesters were killed and over 400 others injured during what began as a peaceful demonstration, sparking widespread anger across the capital.
Locals took to the streets from their homes, expressing outrage over government actions.
The protesters condemned the social media restrictions imposed by the government, widespread corruption, mismanagement, and the luxurious lifestyles of political leaders and their families.
Youths have described their actions as a “people’s outrage” against the current state of the nation.
With tensions escalating, security forces across the country have tightened measures to prevent further unrest.
Kalanki, a key area of the city, remains highly tense as the demonstrations continue into Tuesday.
