KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs).
The high-level event, aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by LLDCs, is being held in the city of Awaza from Aug 5 to 8.
Prime Minister Oli and his delegation landed at Awaza International Airport via Dubai at 2:30 PM local time. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Khojamyrat Geldimyradov, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Lok Bahadur Thapa, and other officials.
The conference is being held at the official invitation of Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Prime Minister Oli is expected to address key issues regarding regional connectivity, trade facilitation, and sustainable development for landlocked nations during the summit.
Nepal’s participation underscores its commitment to global cooperation and sustainable development, particularly in overcoming geographical and economic constraints faced by LLDCs.
