President Paudel unveils govt policies & programs

KATHMANDU: In a joint session of the Federal Parliament, President Ram Chandra Paudel presented the annual policies and programs of the Nepal government for the upcoming fiscal year 2081/82.

The session commenced with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ outlining the government’s forthcoming policies and programs.

It’s become a customary practice for both houses of the federal parliament to present annual policies and programs before the government’s annual budget is introduced.

Special guests at the joint session included Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, former Prime Minister Khilraj Regmi, former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, Chief of the Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma, representatives from diplomatic missions in Nepal, representatives from the private sector, civil society leaders, and personalities from the communication sector.

Upon reaching at the new Parliament building in Baneshwor, President Paudel was welcomed by Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Rana, Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly Vimala Ghimire, Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Padma Giri, and Secretary-General of the Parliament Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey. On this occasion, the Nepali Army also presented a guard of honor.

The Parliament Secretariat has adorned the vicinity of the International Conference Center with the national flag and arches, while special arrangements have been made to attract attention with water fountains and other decorations.
