Prachanda calls for new revolution, says preparations underway
Prachanda, who led the decade-long Maoist insurgency, emphasized that a new revolution is inevitable from the standpoint of leadership since the people's war.
KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has declared that the time has come for a new revolution in Nepal.
Speaking at an event marking the 23rd memorial of the ‘Botle Massacre’ in Dolakha, he said he is already preparing for what he described as a “fresh revolt” to defeat reactionary forces.
“There is once again a need for revolution. We must defeat the reactionaries through a new uprising. I am committed to this path, and preparations are ongoing,” Prachanda said while addressing a program at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on Saturday.
Prachanda, who led the decade-long Maoist insurgency, emphasized that a new revolution is inevitable from the standpoint of leadership since the people’s war.
He also hinted at launching a nationwide campaign soon. “We will soon begin a journey through the mid-hills, staying with martyr families, understanding their pain, and reconnecting with our class base,” he added.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the judiciary’s intervention, he criticized the court for blocking the government’s previous decision to recognize “People’s War Day” as a national holiday during his recent tenure as Prime Minister.
The event began with the screening of a documentary commemorating the 15 Maoist cadres killed in an army operation on Shrawan 18, 2059, in Botle, then Katakuti VDC-1, Dolakha.
The Maoist Centre has continued to commemorate the incident as the ‘Botle Massacre.’
