Political activity intensifies ahead of Rupandehi-3 by-election

KATHMANDU: The upcoming by-election for Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, scheduled for Kartik 17, has significantly heightened political activity in the region.
Following the passing of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Deepak Bohara, the seat remains vacant, prompting the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to accelerate its candidate selection process to assert a strong presence.
The party is set to announce the preliminary list of aspiring candidates this evening.
Having secured third place in the 2022 general elections, RSP is now strategizing to clinch victory with a stronger candidate this time around.
The party had opened applications from Shrawan 7 to 21 with a fee of Rs 25,000, attracting nine aspirants.
To finalize the candidate, RSWP held discussions on Sunday at its central office ‘Ghanti Ghar’ in Bansthali, involving key leaders including Co-General Secretary and Lumbini Province In-Charge Bipin Kumar Acharya, Central Treasurer Lima Adhikari, and Lumbini Province Speaker Devaraj Pathak.
Acharya confirmed that candidates were given a deadline of 4 PM today to withdraw their nominations, after which the preliminary list will be published.
