KATHMANDU: Police fired tear gas at a protest led by the ‘Gen Z’ group against the government’s social media ban and widespread corruption.

The demonstration, which began on Saturday afternoon at Maitighar Mandala, turned tense as protesters reached New Baneshwor.

When protesters tried to advance toward the Parliament building and broke through police barricades, authorities responded with force, including tear gas.

Protesters arriving from both Tinkune and Maitighar Mandala reached the gates of the Parliament.

To disperse the crowd, police deployed additional security personnel at multiple locations.
