PM Q&A dropped amid RSP-RPP protest
RSP and RPP lawmakers walked out, effectively boycotting the session.
KATHMANDU: The scheduled direct question-and-answer session with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the House of Representatives was dropped from the agenda on Friday following strong protests by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced in the House that the session had been removed from the schedule due to an “unfavorable environment” created by continued disruptions from the protesting lawmakers. “Despite repeated calls to maintain order and follow parliamentary rules, the situation remained unsuitable,” he said. “Therefore, I inform the House that the Q&A session with the Prime Minister has been removed for today due to special circumstances.”
The Speaker urged MPs to cooperate in conducting the House in a disciplined manner and stressed that discussion on appropriation headings would continue as planned.
Earlier, lawmakers from RSP and RPP stood in protest, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a high-level investigation committee over the ongoing controversy surrounding the misuse of visit visas.
Following the Speaker’s decision to proceed with the agenda despite their objections, RSP and RPP lawmakers walked out, effectively boycotting the session.
