KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed that banned social media platforms will not be reopened, maintaining a firm stance despite calls from the Nepali Congress.
Ahead of a cabinet meeting, a gathering of Nepali Congress leaders, including current and former officebearers, decided to urge the government to lift the restrictions.
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel also proposed addressing the protesters’ demands and informed the Prime Minister about the party’s decision.
However, PM Oli made it clear that the government is not prepared to lift the ban, stating, “Even the party president suggested it, but companies are unwilling to register openly. Without proper regulation, they cannot simply be reopened.”
Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing between PM Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Baluwatar.
