PM Oli: Government is a symbol of anti-corruption, not corruption
PM Oli strongly objected to allegations that the government is synonymous with corruption simply because it has taken action against a few corrupt individuals.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the government is a symbol of corruption control, not corruption itself.
Speaking at the National Assembly on Wednesday, PM Oli strongly objected to allegations that the government is synonymous with corruption simply because it has taken action against a few corrupt individuals.
“If we take action against one or two, they say corruption is rampant. Should we not take action at all? Those who engage in corruption will face consequences. That’s what a government is supposed to do,” he stated.
His remarks came in response to accusations made earlier by Maoist Centre lawmaker Jag Prasad Sharma, who claimed during zero hour that corruption and the government had become virtually interchangeable, blaming the government as the main culprit behind rising corruption.
PM Oli emphasized the importance of serious discourse on such grave matters and called for collective efforts in economic growth and national development.
