KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has dismissed allegations that the government is targeting former Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in the cooperative scam case for political revenge.

Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, PM Oli emphasized that the government has no role in the judicial proceedings involving hundreds of individuals accused of embezzling public savings in cooperatives. He questioned, “If one person is said to be targeted politically, what about others?”

Oli also criticized attempts to manipulate public opinion and undermine justice, stating that time will hold accountable those seeking to escape legal action through mob influence.

He reaffirmed that boycotting parliament or inciting public emotions is inappropriate, and reiterated that the government has no hand in court decisions.

The Prime Minister further highlighted that the government was formed through the collaboration of the two largest parliamentary parties to stabilize the country’s faltering economy, suggesting that opposition parties are uncomfortable with this stability.
