KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday informed the House of Representatives about his recent visit to Turkmenistan.

He returned on August 7 after attending the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), where he addressed the gathering as the Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau for Least Developed Nations.

During the visit, PM Oli held meetings with heads of delegations from various countries, as well as senior officials from the United Nations and other international organizations.

Highlighting the challenges faced by landlocked developing countries, he pointed out their limited direct access to the sea, which affects international trade, connectivity, and economic growth.

He called for strengthened cooperation among such nations.

PM Oli also emphasized that the lack of direct access to global markets, limited transport networks, and underdeveloped food infrastructure make it difficult for landlocked countries to achieve sustainable development.
