PM Karki directs security forces to ensure flawless election security
PM Karki emphasized that any past gaps or shortcomings in coordination among security agencies must not be repeated.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has instructed security forces to remain vigilant and ensure there are no lapses in election security.
Addressing a coordination meeting of chiefs at the Army Headquarters’ Jungi Adda, held ahead of Maha Shivaratri and Army Day, PM Karki emphasized that any past gaps or shortcomings in coordination among security agencies must not be repeated.
She said, “To conduct this election safely, all security agencies must work in complete coordination, analyzing past election experiences and upcoming challenges, and act flawlessly based on security sensitivities.”
The Prime Minister expressed full confidence that the Nepal Army would carry out its responsibilities under the government-approved “Integrated Security Plan for the House of Representatives Election, 2082” with excellence.
She urged the creation of an environment that guarantees public safety while allowing political activities of all parties to proceed without obstruction, and directed agencies to move forward with clear action plans in collaboration with other bodies.
The meeting, attended by heads of various army departments and directorates, as well as chiefs of units, was opened by Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, who briefed participants on the overall security arrangements.
According to the Army’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations, participants reviewed their respective responsibilities, evaluated completed tasks, offered suggestions, and discussed contemporary security issues.
