Paudel stresses green economy & jobs for sustainable growth
Minister Paudel emphasized the government's commitment to making Nepal's economic development sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly.
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that Nepal can overcome its economic growth challenges through the promotion of a green economy, job creation, and the development of quality human capital.
Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Thursday, Minister Paudel emphasized the government’s commitment to making Nepal’s economic development sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly.
“By creating jobs, developing skilled human capital, promoting a green economy, ensuring social inclusion, and boosting investment and trade, Nepal can successfully tackle its growth-related challenges,” he stated.
He also expressed concern about the impacts of climate change and natural disasters on the economy, stressing the need for resilient infrastructure and proactive measures to safeguard people and economic systems.
Highlighting the importance of international trade, Paudel noted that Nepal must adopt special strategies to enhance export capacity while ensuring trade sustainability.
He underscored the need to increase production and productivity, diversify trade in terms of goods and destinations, preserve and promote infrastructure, and effectively implement bilateral and multilateral trade agreements.
Minister Paudel called for stronger collaboration among the government, private sector, cooperatives, non-governmental organizations, and development partners to drive economic reform, inclusive growth, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
“To achieve these goals, close cooperation between the government, private sector, cooperatives, civil society, and development partners is essential,” he concluded.
