Parsa district imposes curfew in sensitive areas of Birgunj
Authorities said the measure was necessary due to heightened security sensitivities in the city.
KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office of Parsa has imposed a curfew in key areas of Birgunj amid rising tensions over religious and social issues, with the potential for clashes.
According to the District Security Committee, the curfew will be in effect from 1 PM on Poush 21 until further notice.
Under Section 6(3)(A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, all gatherings, rallies, and demonstrations are strictly prohibited within the designated areas to maintain peace and security.
The restricted zones include Bus Park to the east, Sirsiya Bridge to the west, Power House Chowk to the north, and Shankaracharya Gate to the south.
Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal warned that anyone violating the order will be detained and dealt with under the law.
