Parliamentary Committee to submit report on Civil Service Bill cooling-off period

KATHMANDU: A parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the amendments related to the ‘cooling-off period’ in the Federal Civil Service Bill is set to submit its report at the upcoming session of the House of Representatives on Monday.

Committee Chair Jeevan Pariyar informed journalists at Singha Durbar on Sunday that the committee is in the final stages of reviewing its findings.

A meeting is underway to finalize the report before its presentation.

“The committee has reached the concluding phase of its work. Today marks the seventh day of the extended deadline. We aim to finalize the report by this evening and present it at tomorrow’s House session,” said Pariyar.

The committee was formed on Ashad 23 following the House’s decision to investigate the provisions related to the cooling-off period in the Civil Service Bill. Initially, the committee was given 21 days to complete the task.

After the deadline ended on Shrawan 11 (July 26), the committee was granted an additional seven days, which concludes today.

The committee members include Jeevan Pariyar and Sushila Thing from Nepali Congress, Ishwari Gharti and Narayan Prasad Acharya from CPN-UML, Madhav Sapkota from CPN (Maoist Centre), Ganesh Parajuli from Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Roshan Karki from Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
