KATHMANDU: More than 450 people were tested at a one-day heart disease screening camp held on Saturday in Thulipokhari, Kusma Municipality-12, Parbat.
The camp was organized by Kusma Primary Hospital in collaboration with Save the Heart and Nepal Cardio.
Among those tested, five patients were found with serious complications and were referred to Kathmandu for surgery, according to Kusma Municipality-12 Ward Chairperson Jhalak Rimal.
The camp aimed to address the needs of rural residents who often delay treatment due to financial constraints.
Participants included patients from Kushma, Phalebas Municipality, Modi Rural Municipality, and neighboring Syangja district.
Under the leadership of senior cardiologist Dr. Anil Bhattarai, the medical team, including Dr. Suman Adhikari, Dr. Sutap Yadav, and Bodhraj Gautam, provided consultations, heart disease tests, free ECGs, echocardiography, and medicines.
Local resident Ramesh Paudel expressed relief at receiving free services that would otherwise cost lakhs of rupees.
The camp particularly benefited underprivileged, Dalit, and elderly community members.
