KATHMANDU: Opposition parties have concluded that they will take a more assertive approach in Parliament in the coming days.

A joint meeting of chief whips from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, NCP, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) discussed what they described as the Prime Minister’s disregard for parliamentary proceedings, according to UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar.

“The meeting held in-depth and serious discussions on the government’s attempt to suppress opposition voices and push ahead in an undemocratic manner in violation of parliamentary values and the constitutional role of the Speaker,” Mahar said.

He added that the meeting also agreed on continued cooperation to uphold the constitution, ensure adherence to parliamentary rules, and protect democratic principles.

The meeting was attended by Basana Thapa from the Nepali Congress, Ain Mahar from UML, Yuvraj Dulal from NCP, and Khushbu Oli from RPP.
