Opposition disrupts House, session suspended 15 minutes
Demand PM’s presence in Parliament.
KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives was obstructed on Tuesday after major opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and several other political groups, jointly demanded the presence of Prime Minister Balendra Shah in Parliament to respond to questions raised by lawmakers.
Lawmakers had earlier raised various contemporary national issues during emergency, zero, and special hours. However, tensions escalated as the House moved into regular proceedings, with opposition parties blocking the agenda and disrupting the session.
The protesting parties insisted that the Prime Minister must appear in Parliament to provide clarifications on issues raised by MPs, stating that parliamentary business would remain stalled until their demand is met.
Due to the coordinated obstruction, the regular functioning of the House was significantly disrupted, leaving scheduled legislative work incomplete.
The meeting of the House of Representatives was suspended for 15 minutes.
