One dead in scooter accident

KATHMANDU: A scooter accident in Birtamode Municipality, Jhapa, on Saturday evening left one person dead.

The incident occurred around 8:25 PM in Ward No. 7, Khopwari, on an inner paved road.

According to police, a scooter (registration no. Pr. 1–01–013 P 9199) traveling from Pyakurel Chowk towards Buttawari went out of control and collided with an electric pole.

The scooter rider, Shubhash Maden, approximately 35, a resident of Ward No. 7, Birtamod, died in the crash.

His body has been kept at B&C Hospital’s morgue.

The accident site is located about 8 kilometers southeast of the District Traffic Police Office, Jhapa.

Authorities believe high speed may have been a factor, and further investigation is underway.
