Oli invites Dahal to inspect near-complete Kirtipur Cricket Stadium

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has invited opposition leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal to visit the under-construction International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.
Addressing Wednesday’s House of Representatives meeting, PM Oli said that the installation of parapets and floodlights at the stadium has reached its final stage.
Dahal, who is also the former prime minister and chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), had earlier questioned delays in the project during a parliamentary session.
Oli explained that despite “reactionary obstructions,” legal hurdles with ill intentions, and adverse weather conditions, the construction had moved forward.
“In the face of all these obstacles, the stadium is now in its final phase. People asked — have the parapets been built? My answer: yes. Have the floodlights been installed? They are almost done. This is no magic,” he remarked.
PM Oli urged critics, including Dahal, to inspect the site themselves, saying he would be willing to join them for the visit. He also announced that once the parapet and floodlight works are complete, the second phase of the stadium’s construction will commence.
