KATHMANDU: Nottingham Forest secured a comfortable 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town in the English Premier League on Saturday, moving further away from the relegation zone.
The away side’s victory was driven by standout performances from Antony Elanga, who scored twice, as well as Nikola Milenković and Jota Silva, who each netted once.
Ipswich’s response came from Woodukojeans Kazaste and Khusanov, who found the net for the home team. The game began with Milenković putting Forest ahead in the 35th minute.
Elanga then scored twice in quick succession, at the 37th and 41st minutes, giving Forest a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
Ipswich looked to mount a comeback in the second half, and Kazaste’s goal in the 82nd minute raised hopes for the home crowd.
However, Silva’s strike just five minutes later restored Forest’s three-goal advantage, making it 4-1. Ipswich’s Khusanov added a late goal in injury time, but it wasn’t enough to mount a serious challenge.
With this win, Nottingham Forest now sits third in the Premier League with 54 points from 29 matches.
They have strengthened their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season, while Ipswich remains at the bottom of the table with just 17 points.
In other Saturday matches, Manchester City drew 2-2 with Brighton, Everton and West Ham played to a 1-1 draw, Southampton defeated Wolves 2-1, and Brentford triumphed 2-1 over Bournemouth.
