KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a fresh increase in fuel prices, less than two weeks after its last adjustment.

Starting midnight today, the price of petrol and diesel/kerosene will rise by Rs 15 per liter.

Under the new pricing, petrol will cost Rs 184.50 per liter in the first category, Rs 186 in the second, and Rs 187 in the third.

Diesel and kerosene prices are set at Rs 164.50, Rs 166, and Rs 167 per liter across the three categories, respectively.

In Kathmandu, petrol will now retail at Rs 187 per liter.

The NOC has classified locations into three categories: the first category includes Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalkhadi, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Birgunj, and Charali; the second category includes Surkhet and Dang; and the third category covers Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal.

The corporation cited rising international fuel prices as the reason for the hike.

From March 1 to 24 alone, the cost of petrol surged by Rs 76 per liter and diesel by Rs 143 per liter in the international market, which NOC says compelled local price adjustments.
