NHRC calls for probe into Durga Prasai
The recommendation comes after an inquiry into the incidents that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24, during which the Commission reviewed Prasai’s public statements and activities.
KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended the government carry out a detailed investigation into medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai over allegations of inciting the Gen Z movement.
The recommendation comes after an inquiry into the incidents that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24, during which the Commission reviewed Prasai’s public statements and activities.
According to the NHRC, his remarks—both during interactions with Gen Z activists and through social media—were found potentially provocative, raising concerns of possible incitement.
The Commission also cited a report from the National Investigation Department, which suggested that Prasai’s expressions and actions warranted further scrutiny.
Based on these findings, the NHRC has urged the government to conduct a “micro-level” investigation into his role.
