KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 44.25 points on Monday, reaching 2,547.60 points, marking a 1.76% gain.

According to NEPSE, a total of 9.9 million shares of 330 companies were traded 48,836 times, amounting to a total turnover of Rs. 4.97 billion.

All sectoral indices closed in green.

The banking sector gained 0.28%, development banks rose 1.41%, finance companies increased 1.02%, hotel and tourism surged 3.35%, hydropower climbed 2.10%, investment advanced 2.27%, and life insurance went up by 1.92%.

Similarly, manufacturing and processing gained 1.56%, microfinance rose 0.63%, mutual funds inched up 0.32%, non-life insurance improved 1.44%, trading increased 2.81%, and the others sector soared 5.01%.

Nepal Micro Insurance Company Ltd., Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd., and Crest Micro Insurance Ltd. hit the positive circuit limit today.

On the losing side, Corporate Development Bank Ltd. recorded the biggest drop, falling 5.26%.

In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd. topped the chart with Rs. 319.1 million worth of transactions, while Laxmi Sunrise Bank Ltd. led by share volume with 523,233 shares traded.
