NEPSE index rises by 28.73 points, market closes at 2,639.37

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 28.73 points on Monday, closing at 2,639.37, marking a 1.10 percent increase from the previous session.

A total of 12,459,951 shares of 335 listed companies were traded through 84,990 transactions, generating a total turnover of Rs 6.47 billion.

All sectoral indices ended the session in positive territory. The Manufacturing and Processing group recorded the highest gain, surging by 3.05 percent, followed by the Development Bank sector at 2.70 percent and the Hotel and Tourism sector at 2.53 percent.

Other sectors also posted gains, with Banking up 0.67 percent, Finance 0.83 percent, Life Insurance 0.49 percent, Hydropower 1.14 percent, Investment 1.25 percent, Microfinance 0.53 percent, Mutual Funds 0.43 percent, Non-Life Insurance 0.57 percent, Trading 0.22 percent, and the Others group rising by 0.73 percent.

Shares of Sagar Distillery Limited, SY Panel Nepal Limited, Shrinagar Agritech Industries Limited, Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Limited, and Ruru Jalbidyut Pariyojana Limited hit the upper circuit, posting the maximum allowable daily gains.

On the losing side, Standard Chartered Bank Limited Debenture declined by 2.49 percent, making it the top loser of the day.

In terms of trading value and volume, Shivam Cement Limited led the market, with shares worth Rs 386.95 million exchanged through the trading of 622,840 shares.
