NEPSE index falls by 19.43 points amid mixed sector performance

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 19.43 points today, closing at 2,528.16.

A total of 317 companies traded 7,488,272 shares across 38,827 transactions, with the total turnover shrinking to Rs 336.61 million.

Among sectoral movements, Mutual Funds rose by 0.06%, Trading by 1.48%, and Other Groups by 0.79%, while all other sub-indices recorded declines. Sectoral losses included:

• Banking: -0.82%

• Development Banks: -1.00%

• Finance: -1.40%

• Hotels & Tourism: -1.11%

• Hydropower: -1.71%

• Investment: -1.16%

• Life Insurance & Manufacturing & Processing: -0.98% each

• Microfinance: -0.79%

• Non-Life Insurance: -1.10%

In terms of price circuits, Shubham Power Ltd. and Gramin Bikash Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. hit the upper price limit, while Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. hit the lower circuit.

Based on turnover, Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd. recorded the highest trading value at Rs 32.78 million, whereas Hydroelectricity Investment & Development Company Ltd. saw the highest trading volume with 433,097 promoter shares exchanged.
