NEPSE falls by 26.07 points; turnover near Rs 12 billion
Among sectoral indices, only the manufacturing and processing group posted a gain of 0.25 percent, while all other sectors ended in negative territory.
KATHMANDU: The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a double-digit decline on Monday, falling by 26.07 points to close at 2,798.83, a drop of 0.92 percent.
According to the NEPSE, shares of 345 companies were traded during the day. A total of 30,790,211 shares changed hands through 102,759 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 11.97 billion.
Among sectoral indices, only the manufacturing and processing group posted a gain of 0.25 percent, while all other sectors ended in negative territory.
The banking sector declined by 1.61 percent, development banks by 0.84 percent, finance by 0.71 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.26 percent, hydropower by 0.61 percent, investment by 1.52 percent, and life insurance by 0.94 percent.
Similarly, microfinance dropped 0.95 percent, mutual funds 0.46 percent, non-life insurance 0.45 percent, trading 1.09 percent, and the others group 1.09 percent.
Shares of Salapa Bikas Bank Limited, Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company Limited, and Solukhola Hydropower Limited hit the positive circuit limit during the day’s trading.
On the losing side, Siddhartha Equity Fund recorded the steepest decline, dropping 4.39 percent.
In terms of trading value, Aankhu Khola Jalbidyut Company Limited led the market with transactions worth Rs 687.72 million.
Meanwhile, National Hydropower Company Limited saw the highest trading volume, with 2.27 million shares bought and sold.
