NEPSE edges up by 4.45 points; trading volume surpasses Rs 14.32 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a modest gain on the first trading day of the week, rising by 4.45 points to close at 2,824.90.
According to NEPSE, a total of 39.54 million shares of 350 companies were traded in 124,490 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 14.32 billion.
Sector-wise, hotel and tourism declined by 0.62 percent, investment by 0.54 percent, life insurance by 0.46 percent, and mutual funds by 0.25 percent.
All other sector indices posted gains during the session.
The trading sector recorded the highest growth, climbing 2.83 percent.
Similarly, banking rose 0.21 percent, development banks 0.74 percent, finance 0.22 percent, hydropower 0.00 percent, manufacturing and processing 0.12 percent, microfinance 0.15 percent, non-life insurance 0.16 percent, and the others category 0.03 percent.
Among individual stocks, Solukhola Hydropower Limited hit the positive circuit, while Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited dropped to the negative circuit.
In terms of trading volume and turnover, Greenlife Hydropower Limited led the market with transactions worth Rs 810.12 million, involving 2.72 million shares traded during the day.
