KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 22.58 points today, closing at 2,505.58.

A total of 76.12 lakh shares of 318 companies changed hands in 35,750 transactions, with the total turnover shrinking to Rs 310.18 million.

Among sector indices, only Mutual Funds gained, rising 0.24%, while all other groups declined. Trading dropped 0.09%, and Other sectors fell 1.22%.

Bank shares decreased 0.54%, Development Banks 1.14%, Finance 1.10%, Hotels & Tourism 0.06%, Hydropower 1.18%, Investment 0.98%, Life Insurance 0.75%, Manufacturing & Processing 0.39%, Microfinance 0.56%, and Non-life Insurance 0.65%.

Shares of Bindhyabasini Hydropower and Samaj Microfinance hit negative circuit limits, while Manakamana Engineering Hydropower and Panchakanya Mai Hydropower declined 5.87% and 5.75%, respectively. In contrast, Samata Domestic Microfinance surged 10.93%.

By turnover, Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd. led the market with Rs 20.54 million worth of shares traded, while Union Hydropower Ltd. recorded the highest volume with 273,322 shares exchanged.
