Nepali national dies in US, family faces repatriation hurdles
Despite medical efforts, Dahal died on Dec 31, 2025.
KATHMANDU: Vivek Kumar Dahal from Biratnagar-15 passed away at the age of 32 after suffering a stroke in the United States.
He was admitted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., for treatment, where he remained for nearly three weeks.
Despite medical efforts, Dahal died on Dec 31, 2025.
Thirteen days have passed since his death, but his family has struggled to arrange for his body to be brought back to Nepal for the final rites due to financial constraints.
His wife, Sirjana Karki, said that despite wanting to perform the funeral in Nepal, the cost has made it impossible so far.
Efforts are underway to raise funds to cover hospital and repatriation expenses.
Dahal had been living in Waldorf, Maryland, at the time of his passing.
