He emphasized that the process would not be halted under any circumstances.
KATHMANDU: Delegates of the Nepali Congress (NC) special general convention have expressed firm resolve to finalize a new policy framework and elect new leadership.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday after the election schedule was made public, the Special Convention Publicity Committee said the delegates would not leave the convention hall without accomplishing these goals.
Committee Coordinator Subash Pokharel stated that the decision to proceed with the leadership election was taken after the establishment faction failed to address their demands.
He emphasized that the process would not be halted under any circumstances.
Pokharel also urged party president Sher Bahadur Deuba to participate in the process and file his candidacy for the party chairperson’s post.
While dialogue with the establishment side remains ongoing, he reiterated that the election process would continue.
Meanwhile, the establishment faction has maintained that the special general convention is not in line with the party statute.
