During Tuesday's session of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ramesh Lekhak, the party's chief whip, stressed the need for a thorough examination by a parliamentary committee, citing evidence pointing towards the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has urged for the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of cooperative fraud.
During Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ramesh Lekhak, the party’s chief whip, stressed the need for a thorough examination by a parliamentary committee, citing evidence pointing towards the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
Lekhak emphasized that if the government fails to address the opposition’s concerns, it would be held responsible for any disruptions in parliamentary proceedings.
Earlier, Prime Minister Dahal dismissed allegations against Lamichhane, citing a lack of evidence. However, he pledged to take appropriate action if Lamichhane is found guilty, accusing NC of politicizing the matter.
PM Dahal promised that he personally monitors the investigation and has discovered no evidence tying Lamichhane to the wrongdoing.
He urged NC not to disrupt legislative proceedings.
