Nepali Army corporal dies in jeep aaccident

KATHMANDU: A jeep accident in Mugu district has claimed the life of Harisingh Aidi, a vehicle driver serving with the Nepal Army.

According to Chief District Officer of Mugu, Khadananda Khatri, the accident occurred while the jeep was returning after transporting army personnel from Hanumandhwaj Gulm, Hutu Rara, to Bhulbhule.

The incident took place on Sunday evening at around 7:00 pm.

Aidi, a permanent resident of Patan–4, Bagadi in Baitadi district, was critically injured in the crash.

He was rushed to Mugu Hospital at around 10:00 pm but was declared dead at 1:30 am on Monday.

The Bolero jeep (registration number Na 1 Jha 1039) met with the accident near the bend of Alladhuna Khola, ahead of the Pina Police Post in Chhayanath Rara Municipality–7.

The vehicle reportedly plunged about 200 meters off the road.

Rescue teams from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police reached the scene soon after the accident and carried out the rescue operation.

Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
