Nepal Women drop to 23rd in ICC T20I rankings
The decline comes after Nepal failed to meet expectations in both the Asian Games qualifiers and the Asia Cup qualification pathway.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal women’s national cricket team has slipped one place in the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings, moving down to 23rd position following a series of underwhelming performances in recent tournaments.
The decline comes after Nepal failed to meet expectations in both the Asian Games qualifiers and the Asia Cup qualification pathway.
Although the team registered wins against China and Indonesia in the Asian Games qualifiers, they fell short in the knockout stages.
A semi-final defeat to Malaysia ended their hopes of reaching the final, followed by a loss to China in the third-place playoff, which also cost them a spot in the Asian Games.
Similarly, in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, Nepal showed mixed form—defeating Qatar and Bhutan in the group stage but losing to Hong Kong.
Their campaign ended in the quarter-finals with a defeat to Thailand, which ultimately ruled them out of Asia Cup qualification as well.
These consecutive setbacks across major regional tournaments have directly impacted Nepal’s ICC ranking position.
