KATHMANDU: Nepal faced a 22-run defeat against Vanuatu in the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy match held at the Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali, Rwanda.

Chasing a target of 98 runs, Nepal were bowled out for 75 in 15.3 overs.

The batting lineup collapsed despite a fighting knock from Samjhana Khadka, who top-scored with 24 runs off 19 balls, including four boundaries.

Captain Indu Verma contributed 13 runs, while Kavita Kunwar added 10. No other batter managed to reach double figures.

For Vanuatu, Vanessa Vira and Nasimana Naika starred with the ball, taking three wickets each and dismantling Nepal’s batting order.

Earlier, Vanuatu, after winning the toss and opting to bat, posted 97 for 5 in 20 overs.

Valenta Langiatua led the innings with 42 runs off 50 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes.

Nasimana Naika added 18 runs, while Selena Solomon and Susan Stephen chipped in with 10 runs each.

Nepal’s bowling effort was highlighted by Ria Sharma, who took 2 wickets for just 11 runs in her four overs. Manisha Upadhyay, Kavita Kunwar, and Rachana Kumari Chaudhary claimed one wicket each.

Nepal will next face the United States on March 26.
