Nepal Police to recruit 133,980 election police for March 5 polls
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the Human Resource Development Department of the Nepal Police Headquarters called for applications from 133,980 individuals to serve as Election Police.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police has announced a large-scale recruitment of temporary personnel, officially termed “Election Police,” to ensure a peaceful and fear-free environment for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the Human Resource Development Department of the Nepal Police Headquarters called for applications from 133,980 individuals to serve as Election Police.
This year, the authorities have replaced the previously used term “Myadi Police (Temporary Police)” with the new designation “Election Police.”
Application Timeline and Process
Eligible and interested Nepali citizens can submit applications from Poush 25 to Magh 1.
Applications will be accepted even on public holidays, according to the police headquarters.

Applicants must submit their forms in person at the designated offices.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify as an Election Police officer, applicants must:

Be 18 years old and not exceed 54 years of age

Have basic literacy (able to read and write)

Not be affiliated with any political party

Have no criminal record involving moral turpitude

Be physically and mentally fit
Priority Groups
Special priority will be given to:

Former personnel of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and former forest guards

Nepali citizens retired from security agencies of friendly foreign countries
-
Individuals who previously served as Myaadi Police with satisfactory performance
-
Candidates who, between Magh 1, 2081 and the end of Poush 2082, applied for recruitment in security agencies and passed physical and medical tests (entry permit required)
Service Duration and Benefits
Selected Election Police personnel will be appointed for 40 days from the date of appointment. They will receive:

Basic salary equivalent to a Nepal Police constable

After completing training, the Election Police will be deployed nationwide to support election security and management.
