Nepal declares upcoming decade as ‘IT Decade’: Minister Gurung
Minister Gurung said the government will focus on developing export-oriented IT solutions by actively engaging the private sector.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced that the government aims to declare the coming decade as the “Information Technology Decade,” positioning IT as a foundational pillar for national development.
Responding to queries under the appropriation bill during Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, Minister Gurung said the government will focus on developing export-oriented IT solutions by actively engaging the private sector.
Highlighting a long-term vision for economic and social transformation, he emphasized attracting youth into the IT sector to create employment and self-employment opportunities. The ministry, he added, is committed to promoting good governance and e-governance while ensuring integrity in service delivery.
He informed the parliament that the allocated budget focuses on six key areas under the ministry’s scope, and a unified annual action plan has been developed to achieve targeted indicators effectively.
