KATHMANDU: The second day of the Nepali Congress (NC) Special Convention has begun with a closed session, following calls from the party’s supporting groups.

The Special Convention Publicity Committee informed reporters in a press conference that the closed session started earlier today at the hall in Bhrikutimandap.

The session is being chaired by Shyamkumar Khadka, an 88-year-old senior NC leader and veteran convention delegate from Kathmandu-5.

According to Subash Pokharel, coordinator of the publicity committee, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, a legal expert and convention delegate, will read out the rules and procedures prepared by the NC factions supporting the Special Convention.

The program will be conducted by NC Kaski Chairperson Kishor Datt Baral.

During the session, NC General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma are set to present two separate proposals.

The proposals include political review, party procedures, constitutional amendments, and structural reforms.

Pokharel added that the proposals will be discussed by nine different groups within the party before final conclusions are drawn.
